Greenlane was one area of Auckland severely affected by the Anniversary Weekend floods of 2023.
As record amounts of rain fell on the city, large residential areas were inundated with water pouring off One Tree Hill.
Alan*, a Greenlane homeowner whose home was impacted by the floods, got in touch with Supply Force for a solution.
The problem
Alan’s home was seriously affected by the intense rainfall, receiving 200-millimetres of water throughout the rear of his property.
The water came in through all entrances and caused severe damage to the interior of his home.
The challenge
Supply Force International visited Alan’s home to assess the situation.
Due to the location of his home, we could see that water would easily pool at the back of the house, and therefore make its way inside.
We couldn’t realistically stop the water, so we needed to find a way to prevent it from reaching the house.
Fortunately for Alan, this is our specialty. We have a wide range of solutions to all flood problems, and we had no trouble finding a positive outcome for him.
The solution
Supply Force advised Alan to construct a 50-millimetre-high block wall at the back of the property.
This would blend in with the aesthetics of the garden but also provide protection in another major flood event.
We also had an Acquastop Door Guard custom-made so it could be walked through. These are very fast to deploy in flood events, but they can also be used normally when there’s no threat.
For Alan’s backdoor and exterior bedroom door, Supply Force’s DAM EASY® – an off-the-shelf flood protection solution – was ideal as the product takes up minimal space and with its expanding wings, was a perfect fit.
Neither of these systems alters the look of Alan’s home, with only brackets required that are hardly noticeable.
Alan was incredibly pleased with the end result, having the peace of mind of knowing that when another flood hits the area, his home will be well protected.
